Gardaí in Clare have confirmed they 're treating the death of a young man, whose body was found at the base of the Cliffs of Moher last night, as a tragic accident.

The Hungarian national in his 20's, was visiting friends in Kilrush for the summer and had travelled to the world famous beauty spot yesterday evening.

The man's companions raised the alarm at 7.30pm after he failed to return from a cliff walk.

Emergency services were alerted and the body was recovered from the shoreline just south of the main viewing area by members of the Doolin Coastguard Unit.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are treating the incident as a tragic accident and that a post mortem is likely to take place tomorrow in Limerick.
