Opposition attack Ahern's plan to add new junior ministries
The two main opposition parties have hit out at the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's plans to increase the number of junior ministries within the government.
Mr Ahern said today that up to three new posts could be created covering areas like immigration, older people, and education.
The Taoiseach also confirmed that former Green Party leader Trevor Sargent would be appointed as a Minister of State, but ruled out any such role for Independent TD Beverly Flynn.
The Labour Party described the Taoiseach's plan a "cynical ploy to facilitate cronyism".
Fine Gael TD Billy Timmons insisted there was no practical reason for the move.
