Minister Lenihan to establish Victim Support Agency
The newly appointed Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan has said that one of his first steps will be to establish a Victim Support Agency for victims of crime.
The minister made the commitment at a graduation ceremony of 39 Garda reserves in Templemore in Tipperary earlier today.
He said that the new agency will be underpinned by legislation and will ensure that the victims of crime will have a voice in the criminal justice system.
The minister also said that the Garda reserves are now firmly established as a key component of the Garda force here.
