North's Policing Board queries need for Taser stun guns
The North's Policing Board has queried the need for the use of Taser stun guns by the PSNI.
The police want to use the non-lethal weapon to pacify people who, for example, threaten police officers with knives.
However, the Policing Board's human rights investigators say the force has yet to develop a convincing argument that they are needed.
They also say the necessary safeguards are not in place and the proposals have not been fully worked out.
