Ahern to be elected to third term

Fianna Fáil leader Bertie Ahern is set to be elected to a historic third consecutive term as Taoiseach today when the new Dail meets for the first time.

Fianna Fáil leader Bertie Ahern is set to be elected to a historic third consecutive term as Taoiseach today when the new Dáil meets for the first time.

Mr Ahern will lead a coalition Government involving both the PDs and the Green Party, with the support of a number of independent TDs.
