Accounts check urged over extortion fears

Bank managers in the North were urged today to check elderly customers’ accounts amid fears their savings have been plundered by extortionists.

Police widened their investigation as six people arrested in the North as well as Lancashire in the UK were questioned about an alleged scam against one pensioner.
