Progress made in FF-Green negotiations
There appears to be some progress in negotiations between the Green Party and Fianna Fáil regarding forming a coalition Government today.
The parties are currently engaged in bilateral meetings, with senior figures from both sides consulting with their respective reference groups.
Following today’s contact between the parties, senior Green Party negotiator Dan Boyle has said he is more hopeful this afternoon that a deal could be done than he was this morning.
It is understood that areas of policy are being discussed, rather than ministerial positions.
Green Leader Trevor Sargent would not be drawn on the contents of the documents.
"I can't tell you any more other than we are examining the documentation that has come back from Fianna Fáil," he said.
"It's obviously important to ensure that there is sufficient agreement and sufficient implementation of Green Party policies before we call our members from around the country, and that itself is going to be a logistical nightmare."
A decision of some kind is expected to be made by around 7pm this evening.
