A youth group which works with educationally disadvantaged children has today welcomed comments by the Minister for Education Mary Hanafin to reform the Leaving Certificate.

Youth Work Ireland has long been calling for the radical overhaul of the exam system, particularly to combat early school leaving.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
