Corrib opponents mount protest at peat deposit site
Opponents of the Corrib gas project are staging a demonstration this morning at a peat deposit site being used by Shell in Co Mayo.
Five members of the Shell to Sea protest group have locked themselves together and are blocking the entrance of the site.
Gardaí and members of the fire service are trying to remove the protestors from the area.
Today's action is the latest in a string of protests against the project by Shell to Sea, which wants gas from the Corrib field to be refined offshore rather than pumped directly to Co Mayo.
