PSNI investigate link between man's murder and his work

In the North, police are investigating a possible link between a doorman's murder and his work.

Brian McGlynn - aged 28 - was shot dead in bed at his Derry home early yesterday.

The 28-year-old, originally from Strabane in Co Tyrone, was lying asleep beside his girlfriend when two armed men broke into the house and shot him dead at point blank range.

He had been working as a bouncer at the Red Rooms nightclub and another pub in the city.

Detective Chief Inspector Jeff Smyth said the gunmen made their getaway across Craigavon Bridge in a green car.

He said that during the course of his work, the dead man may have crossed someone and the PSNI have asked anyone who knows anything about threats made against him to contact them.
