Trócaire is calling on the incoming government to push for stronger EU sanctions against Sudan.

The aid agency wants the EU to follow the example of the United States, which strengthened its sanctions this week due to the ongoing violence in the Darfur region.

It says stronger measures are needed to force the Sudanese to end the slaughter, including travel bans, the freezing of assets and a comprehensive arms embargo.
