Man charged in connection with Siobhan Kearney murder
Gardaí in Dublin have charged a 50-year-old man in connection with the murder of Siobhan Kearney in the south of the city last year.
The 38-year-old mother-of-one was strangled to death with the flex of a vacuum cleaner at her home in the Goatstown area in January 2006.
Her body was locked in a bedroom and her three-year-old son Dan left alone in the house in Knocknashee.
The high-profile murder shocked local residents and Ms Kearney's family launched several appeals in an effort to secure criminal charges.
The chief suspect in the case was arrested two days after the murder, but was later released without charge.
This morning, a 50-year-old man was arrested and charged over the killing. He is due before Dun Laoghaire District Court later.
