Gardaí launch murder hunt after shot man dies

A murder inquiry was launched tonight after a man gunned down in north Dublin at the weekend died in hospital from his injuries.

The 25-year-old man had been fighting for his life after being shot in the neck in the hallway of a house in Fortlawn Park, Blanchardstown.

Gardaí confirmed a full scale murder invesigation was under way after he died this evening in the James Connolly Memorial Hospital.

The gunman fled the scene early on Sunday morning on a motorbike.

Five minutes after the attack, a motorbike was found on fire at Sheepmore Grove, gardaí said.

Forensic teams sealed off the scene at Fortlawn Park and were also carrying out a technical examination of the motorbike.
