Detectives are tonight searching for two men who tried to aid a teenager stabbed to death in the early hours of Saturday.

Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of Sean Nolan at Waterloo Road, Donnybrook, appealed for two males who went to the victim to make contact with the incident room at Donnybrook Garda Station.

The 18-year-old, of Griffith Court, Fairview, who was due to sit his Leaving Cert next month, was killed in what was described as a senseless tragedy.

He was stabbed a number of times in the incident, which happened around 4am.

A 17-year-old, who was arrested on Waterloo Road a short time after the incident, was charged with assault at a special sitting of Dublin District Court on Saturday night.

He has been remanded on bail.
