Fourteen seats remaining in five constituencies

Just 14 seats now remain to be filled across seven constituencies in the General Election count.

Sinn Féin's Aengus O'Snodaigh is in a fight to retain his seat with Labour's Eric Byrne in Dublin South Central.

With 18 seats to be filled: Fianna Fáil has 73, Fine Gael 46, Labour 19, PDs 1, Green Party 5, Sinn Féin 3 and Others 5.

Votes are still being counted in Dublin North, Dublin North-East and Dublin South-Central.

In Tipperary South, 59 votes separate independent Seamus Healy and Fianna Fáil's Martin Mansergh.

Hopes of a Green's seat for Deirdre De Burca in Wicklow have been dashed with the election of Fine Gael's Andrew Doyle just after midday.

Labour candidate Michael D Higgins has been elected to the Dáil in the five-seat constituency of Galway West after the tenth count.

Mr Higgins received 10,916 which means nearly 1,800 votes have to be transferred to the remaining candidates.

The Progressive Democrats are hoping to get a Dáil seat in the constituency with Noel Grealish who is on 7,241 votes.

Fianna Fáil's Martin Brady has conceded defeat in Dublin North East.

The outgoing TD confirmed that he would be pulling out of the race through the party's director of elections this afternoon.

This three-seater has turned out to be more dramatic than expected.

Although Fianna Fáil's Michael Woods topped the poll he still hasn't reached the quota and hasn't been elected.

The fourth count is underway but a problem with missing votes means the process could take a little longer than anticipated.

Now that Brady has conceded, Woods is likely to pick up the transfers to meet the quota with Labour's Tommy Broughan and Fine Gael's Terrance Flanagan filling the remaining two seats.

A recount is still ongoing in the constituency of Dublin North.

Just one candidate, Fianna Fáil's Michael Kennedy, was elected to the four-seat constituency yesterday, before the recount was requested by the Labour Party.

This followed the elimination of their candidate by a mere eleven votes.

All the bundles from yesterday's seven rounds of counts in Portmarnock are this morning being checked by election staff.

They're looking for errors or miscounts that may help Labour's Brendan Ryan pull back the eleven votes he needs to avoid being eliminated ahead of Clare Daly of the Socialist Party.

But even if he manages to find a lifeline in to the next round, Brendan Ryan is unlikely to be elected, as he would still only be in fifth place in a race for the tree remaining seats.
