No motive known for Dublin stabbing

A 17-year-old youth is in garda custody following the fatal stabbing of another teenager in south Dublin early this morning.

A 17-year-old youth is in garda custody following the fatal stabbing of another teenager in south Dublin early this morning.

The 18-year-old victim was stabbed on Waterloo Road in Donnybrook shortly after 4am.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The teenager arrested in connection with the killing is being held at Donnybrook Garda Station.

The motive for the stabbing is unknown and the dead man is not believed to have known his attacker.

The scene at Waterloo Road has been sealed off for technical examination and an incident room has been set up.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or who saw the incident to contact them.
