The City of Derry Airport is set to remain closed until next week at the earliest after being closed on Thursday night due to safety fears.

The Civil Aviation Authority in the North suspended the airport's licence after inspectors found problems with temporary repairs to an aircraft parking area and a lack of an effective bird control plan.

Management say they are working to get the facility back up and running as soon as possible.

Ryanair has cancelled all its flights to and from Derry as a result of the closure, while British Airways has rescheduled its services to operate from Belfast International Airport.
