Shatter takes seat back

Fine Gael’s Alan Shatter has tonight retaken the seat he lost in 2003 in the final count in the Dublin South constituency.

Fine Gael’s Alan Shatter has tonight retaken the seat he lost in 2003 in the final count in the Dublin South constituency.

Fianna Fáil’s Maria Corrigan lost out, totalling 7,656 votes, compared to 10,805 for Shatter.

The constituency returned two Fianna Fáil, two Fine Gael and one Green Party representative.

Michael Darcy, who also lost his seat in Fine Gael's drubbing in 2002, also regained his seat in the sixth and final count in Wexford.
