Labour candidate leads polls in Longford Westmeath

Labour's Willie Penrose is leading the polls in Longford Westmeath after the first count.

He has 9,692 first preference votes, nearly 1,300 short of the 10,984 quota.

Fianna Fáil's Mary O'Rourke is second with 8,215 votes with party colleague Peter Kelly on 7,720.

James Bannon of Fine Gael is next on 7,652 while Fianna Fáil's third candidate Donie Cassidy is fifth with 6,664 votes.
