One of the news stories of the election - the fight to the wire between Green Party candidate John Gormley and Progressive Democrats leader Michael McDowell in Dublin South East - has taken another turn on the third count.

John Gormley has benefited from transfers to pull more than 1,000 votes ahead of his PDs rival. Gormley is now on 5,716 votes, to Michael McDowell's 4,601.
