In Dublin South-East outgoing Tánaiste Michael McDowell is struggling to retain his seat after the first count.

He holds 4,450 votes with the quota at 6,629 votes.

Fine Gael's Lucinda Creighton tops the poll on 6,600 with Fianna Fáil's Chris Andrews on 6,311 and Labour's Ruairi Quinn holding 5,636 votes.

The Green Party's John Gormley is next on 4,685 with Mr McDowell behind him.

The results from the first count of the crucial Dublin South East constituency are announced.
