Man rescued by coastguard helicopter after quarry fall

A man has been rescued from a quarry fall in Co Limerick.

A man has been rescued from a quarry fall in Co Limerick.

He fell and broke his leg at a quarry lake near Lough Gur and had to be winched to safety by the Shannon Helicopter because the ambulance could not access him.

The helicopter landed in a nearby airfield and the ambulance took him to the Mid-West regional hospital.

The rescue operation was co-ordinated by Valentia coastguard.
