PDs pledge €1bn investment in the arts

The PDs are promising to invest in new theatres and museums if returned to Government.

The party has launched its Arts and Culture policy, which pledges to spend over €1bn on improving our cultural facilities.

They are also proposing to increase funding for music programmes in primary schools.

PD candidate Frank McNamara said: "It is absolutely essential that people embrace the indisputable fact that arts and access to the arts is a right."

"If you want your child to learn music, it shouldn't be dependent on your income."
