Two women dead in Longford crash

Two women today died in a road traffic accident in north Co Longford.

The two-car collision occurred at Purth Cross, Granard at around 2pm.

Another two people have been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mulllingar where their condition is described as serious.

The Granard-Aughnacliffe Road has been closed for officers to investigate the crash scene.

The collision involved two cars and two female passengers in one of the cars were killed.

Elsewhere, a man in his 30s died after the car he was driving hit a wall in Co Wexford.

The single-vehicle accident happened on the N11 at Cooran, Enniscorthy at around 3am today.
