Shooting victim was 'known Limerick criminal'
A Limerick criminal in his 30s has been shot dead during a dramatic gun attack in the Thomond Gate area of the city this morning.
The drama unfolded at around 10.40am, when a motorcycle crashed into a parked vehicle on Inglewood Terrace while being pursued by a car.
The pillion passenger jumped from the bike and dodged bullets before eventually falling to the ground 20 yards away.
It is understood a lone gun-man lay in wait and ambushed the pair.
Witnesses say at least six gunshots were fired.
The victim was taken to hospital, but died from his injuries.
The killing is believed to have been related to the long-running feud between rival criminal gangs in Limerick.
