Man found dead in Thurles 'of Eastern European origin'

It has been confirmed the man found dead near Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday evening was of Eastern European origin.

Contact has not yet been made with the dead man's family so formal identification cannot be confirmed at this stage, but gardaí today said that progress was being made on that matter via Interpol.

Gardaí said the man had lived and worked in the Thurles area during the last few years.

He lived locally in a rented house with two other Eastern Europeans.

It was confirmed that house is now designated as a crime scene.
