Recruitment to Garda Reserve slower than expected

Minister for Justice Michael McDowell has reportedly asked for local superintendents to become involved in boosting recruitment to the new Garda Reserve.

Reports this morning say recruitment to the part-time force has been going much more slowly than expected, with just 125 members set to be sworn in by the general election.
