Dublin man arrested in connection with Clare bomb

Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of a pipe bomb underneath a car in Co Clare yesterday morning.

The device was found outside a house in Doonmore, near Doonbeg, at around 9am and was neutralised by army bomb disposal experts.

Reports this morning say the bomb was viable, but failed to explode due to a fault in the timing mechanism.

The target of the attack is believed to have been a Dublin man living in the house where the device was found.

This morning's reports say he had moved to Co Clare from Tallaght six months ago along with his partner and three children to escape from a local drugs gang.

A man was arrested in the Tallaght area yesterday in connection with the incident and is due to interviewed by gardaí from Co Clare later today.
