Union leaders have said nurses are more determined than ever to continue their campaign of industrial action, following today's one hour stoppages at five different hospitals.

Nurses in Dublin and Roscommon were the latest to walk off the wards in a row over pay and working hours.

Members of nursing unions, the INO and the PNA said today they will not stop until their demands are met.

Management at Beaumont Hospital says there was minimal disruption to patient services during the stoppages.

However, spokesperson for the hospital Liam Duffy said if nurses were to escalate their strike, beyond the one hour work stoppage, it would cause serious problems.
