Gardaí expected to launch murder inquiry in Clonakilty
Gardaí in west Cork are expected to launch a murder inquiry today following the discovery of a woman's body in a flat in Clonakilty yesterday.
Detectives are awaiting the results of a post mortem on the remains of 30-year-old Rose Patterson.
She was found dead just before midday by a local man who called to the flat above a business premises on Connolly Street.
Her former partner was also discovered in the flat with injuries to his wrists and neck.
He was brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment and gardaí are hoping to speak with him at some stage today.
Gardaí are officially treating the death as suspicious, but are expected to upgrade the case to a murder inquiry when the results of the post mortem are known later today.
