The founder of the Positive Action support group for women infected with Hepatitis C during the contaminated blood scandal is to contest this year's general election for the PDs.

Jane Mullins, who is currently editor of the Kildare Post newspaper, has been selected as a candidate in the Kildare South constituency.

PD Senator John Dardis failed to get elected in the constituency in 2002 and had indicated that he did not want to stand again this year.
