A Cork man accused of rape has claimed in evidence that he had consensual sex with the teenage complainant and agreed he at first told a lie to gardaí about where he was on the night of the alleged crime.

The 27-year-old man has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to raping a then 16-year-old on October 23, 2005 in a rural area of Co Cork. It was day-three of the trial.
