Motorists warned to take care in icy conditions

Motorists have been warned to take extra care today because of poor driving conditions around the country.

Many parts of the country have experienced snow and sleet showers as well as high winds and thunder storms.

Temperatures are expected to drop below zero again tonight, with icy patches on the roads.

Meteorologist with Met Éireann, Jim O'Brien, said while icy patches on back roads will melt as temperatures rise, snow and sleet showers can still be expected throughout the morning.
