Teachers and civil servants may no longer be able to avoid jury duty if reforms proposed by the Courts Service are accepted.

Existing legislation allows them to dodge service if they supply a letter from their managers, but a committee on jury panels is suggesting the loophole should be scrapped to broaden the pool of potential jurors.
