New laws to see tiger kidnap suspects held for a week

Gardaí combating gangland crime will be able to hold suspects in tiger kidnappings for up to seven days under new legislation due to become law before Easter.

As a murder investigation opens into the latest killing in Dublin, Minister for Justice Michael McDowell defended his Criminal Justice Bill published today.
