Supermarket chain urged to halt alcohol promotion
A supermarket chain is coming under pressure to ban its controversial new drinks promotion.
The St Patrick's weekend offer allows customers to get 12 cans of beer for free for every 12 they buy.
The promotion has sparked controversy after Ireland topped a poll of the worst binge-drinkers in Europe.
Paul Stephens of the Vintners Federation believes that it is irresponsible.
"This promotion will only serve to accelerate irresponsible drinking," he said.
