Green Party Energy spokesperson Eamon Ryan TD has said the Government's white paper on energy, released today, fails to deliver on the commitments given in Brussels last week, to generate 20% of our energy by renewable sources by 2020.

Deputy Ryan said: "We use energy in roughly three different ways; one third in electricity, one third in heating our water and buildings and one third in transport. While today's paper does set a target for green electricity it has no firm commitments in the area of heating or transport.
