Siptu has welcomed the intervention of the National Implementation Body, in addressing the issues of pay and conditions for Nurses.

The process, involving senior representatives from both sides, will commence on Monday next and end no later than 30th March.

The Irish Nurses' Organisation and the Psychiatric Nurses Association have deferred a planned work to rule for the duration of the talks.

While it's taken rather longer to bring it about than we would have hoped, it's none the less a welcome development and it's brought about the possibility that the issues concerning the people in the nursing profession of all unions can be addressed, said Siptu president Jack O'Connor.
