Gardaí appeal for information in Longford death investigation

Gardaí are seeking information from the public as part of their investigation into the death of a young woman whose body was found in Longford town last weekend.

The remains were found at the back of a commercial premises on Kilashee Street early yesterday morning.

A post mortem was carried out last night, but the results have not been disclosed.

Gardaí have been granted a warrant to search a premises today as part of their investigation and reports this morning say the inquiry is examining if the woman may have died during an botched break-in.

Detectives are also still trying to identify the woman, who was in her late teens or early 20s, of small build with short, brown hair, and wearing a navy LA Gear tracksuit top.

They are seeking information from anyone who may have been in the Kilashee Street or St Bridget's Terrace area between Saturday evening and 9am yesterday morning.
