Man dies after Clare housefire

A 30-year-old man has died following a house fire in Co Clare.

The body was found in a house on the Gort Road in Ennis, after the emergency services were called to the scene.

Shortly before 4pm yesterday, two units of the Ennis Fire Brigade were called to a house on the Ashfield Park estate on the Gort Road.

They discovered the body of a man in the house which had been damaged by smoke, though little fire damage had been caused.

The body was removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post-mortem will be carried out on Monday to establish the cause of death.

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating the fatality, which they believe was due to smoke inhalation, after an electric bar heater caught fire in the home of the deceased.

They do not suspect any foul play and say there was nothing suspicious about the incident.
