Man injured in gangland-style shooting

A young man was recovering today after he was wounded in a gangland style shooting.

The man, 22, was shot in the leg after he opened the door of his home in the Whites town Park area of Blanchardstown, in north west Dublin, at about 11.30pm last night.

He attempted to close the door after he was confronted by two men, and shots were fired.

The young man was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown and his injuries have been described as not life-threatening.

In a follow up operation, gardaí recovered a dark car believed to have been used by the two men. Officers from the technical bureau have been called to examine the vehicle.

On Tuesday night, another 22-year-old man was shot several times in inner city Dublin. The man was hit in the face, leg, arms and shoulder after a gunman entered the house in Gray Square, off Meath Street, in the Liberties.

Gardaí linked the attack to a long-running feud between Crumlin and Drimnagh crime gangs.
