Greens converge on Galway for national conference
The Green Party will hold its national conference in Galway this weekend.
The party has six TDs at the moment, and is running 35 candidates in the general election.
The last Irish Times opinion poll saw the party's popularity rise from 4 to 8%, which could have major implications for the general election.
Delegates today will be treated to Al Gore's film on climate change, an Inconvenient Truth.
Finance expert Eddie Hobbes will give a talk tomorrow about declining world oil reserves.
Other guest speakers include Ibec director of policy Danny McCoy, Kingspan Century Homes chief Gerry McCaughey and former Green government minister in Germany, Renate Kunast.
A significant number of greens from the North, who are now a regional council within the Party, will also be in attendance.
