Gardaí probe attempted abduction of 10-year-old Sligo girl

Gardaí in Sligo are investigating the alleged attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl in the town yesterday morning.

The girl was apparently approached by a man in an alleyway between St Brigid's Place and Pearse Road while she was on her way to school at around 9am.

The man allegedly attempted to put a black plastic bag over her head, but she managed to escape by kicking him in the shins.

There were no witnesses to the alleged incident, but gardaí have interviewed the girl involved, as well as several other primary school pupils.
