Gold Cup to get touch of glamour at Leopardstown
A touch of glamour is being added to the Hennessy Gold Cup race, it was disclosed today.
The Grade 1 horse race will be run next weekend at Leopardstown Racecourse outside Dublin for the 30th year and will feature a Best Dressed Lady competition.
Guests at the event will include film director Jim Sheridan, Irish artist Guggi, Trainspotting writer Irvine Welsh, singer Brian Kennedy and singer Camille O’Sullivan.
Top female jockey in Ireland and Britain, Nina Carberry helped launch details of the Best Dressed Lady competition, which has a top prize of €4,000.
Among the runners is two-time winner Beef or Salmon and his English rival, the Listener.
Ms Carberry, from Co Kildare, said: “It was interesting to swap my riding gear to get glammed up to help promote the Gold Cup.
“It is a big day out in the racing calendar and the rivalry between Beef or Salmon and the Listener will be fascinating.”
