Armed and uniformed police officers are to be deployed for the first time ever at an accident and emergency unit in the North.

Armed and uniformed police officers are to be deployed for the first time ever at an accident and emergency unit in the North.

The move is being taken at Belfast City Hospital to deal with attacks on healthcare staff.

From next month, two uniformed police officers will be in the A&E unit of the City Hospital on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, between 10pm and 3am.
