According to the Medical Bureau of Road Safety one sixth of Irish drivers found to have excessive alcohol levels also tested positive for other drugs.

The party's road-safety spokesperson Shane McEntee is calling for drug-driving tests to be introduced as a matter of urgency.

He said today that people driving under the influence of drugs is the biggest undetected menace on our roads.
