A property developer is reportedly seeking to get planning permission for a new children's hospital on the outskirts of west Dublin.

Reports this morning say Richard Farrington is hoping to get permission for a 450-bed hospital alongside the N7 between Newland's Cross and CityWest.

If he is successful, he is reportedly planning to offer to sell the site to the Government.

The move comes amid ongoing disquiet over the Government's decision to build a new national children's hospital alongside the Mater in Dublin's north inner city.
