More than 10,000 people are without power in Wexford town following the failure of an electricity transformer this morning.

Power blackout affects 10,000 in Wexford town

More than 10,000 people are without power in Wexford town following the failure of an electricity transformer this morning.

According to the ESB, a fault developed in the transformer, which is located in the centre of the town, shortly after 8am.

Technicians are currently working to repair the equipment.

ESB spokesperson Kevin McDermott said that power is expected to be restored within the next few hours.
