Motorists urged to use dipped headlights in bad weather

Motorists are today being urged to use dipped headlights in bad weather conditions.

High winds and heavy showers are expected to continue throughout the country today, and may turn into hail and sleet later.

Drivers are urged to take care, particularly in the west of the country where thunderstorms are likely.

Irish Advanced Motorists director Mike Kavanagh said: "A simple rule of thumb is to switch on lights whenever you switch on your wipers."
