NTR rejects €10,000 offer to lift West-Link toll barriers

The company that operates the controversial West-Link toll bridge in Dublin is being accused of adopting an unreasonable stance against proposals to lift the toll barriers at peak times.

Independent Senator Shane Ross says he has offered €10,000 to National Toll Roads if it will allow traffic to flow freely at rush hour as part of an experiment.

However, he says the company has flatly rejected the offer.

Mr Ross, who has been campaigning against the M50 toll barriers for some time, is accusing the company of running scared from the results of the experiment.

NTR claims lifting the barriers would not solve congestion on the M50.

However, Senator Ross says it is self-evident that the toll booths are causing traffic delays and he was prepared to offer his own money to cover NTR's losses just to prove the company wrong.
